Through its branch in Panama, SISTEMA INGENIERIA has collaborated with the construction company OCA to recalculate the steel structure of the Flor Plaza Shopping Centre in Panama City.

The works consisted of reviewing the steel structure from a resistant (rupture) and functional (deformation) point of view.

The reviewed elements were the horizontal and vertical sections, the slab, the concrete–steel connections, the support anchor plates and the fascia structure.

Based on the results of the review, the previous design was adapted in two ways:

• Reinforcing existing components or adding new ones, taking advantage of ordered material where possible.
• Optimising design where possible and necessary.
