The joint venture formed by Estudio 7, Sistema Ingeniería and Tema Ingeniería has been awarded the Drafting of the Construction Project “GC-1. Improvements of accesses and links in the GC-1. Las Palmas GC – Airport. Phase I: Actions to Improve the Fluency of the GC-1. Section: Water treatment plant – Salinetas Link. Island of Gran Canaria”.
The objective of the contract is to design improvement and conditioning measures, so necessary today, in order to reduce the congestion that takes place at peak times and improve the service levels of the road and its corresponding links. The GC-1 supports 160,000 vehicles per day.
In this sense, it is not the intention to increase the capacity of the GC-1 trunk but to improve its mobility, optimizing the entrances and exits, as well as to enhance the use of an internal road mesh in order to avoid the use of the GC-1 as a collector-distributor route, instead of a high-capacity road for long-distance traffic.
In addition, new measures will be designed to improve public transport and pedestrian itineraries, in order to provide a full integrated system that allows the mobility of all the agents involved.
This, together with BIM technology, will allow a detailed definition of all the elements, which will allow greater agility in the fitting of the layout and detail calculations, reducing design and processing times, which will have a positive impact on the deadlines of the project.
